The Irish SPV sector saw substantial growth over the course of 2019, as vehicle numbers grew by 263 and assets rose by €132.2bn.
Q4-2019 continued the trend seen in the first three quarters of the year, with an increase of 67 net new SPVs and €15.3bn in assets.
This asset growth was broad-based across all vehicle categories, with a particular concentration in exposures to UK-based entities.
Our latest estimates show that current employment in the broader Irish SPV sector is 3,057, and total fees of €353m are paid annually to domestic firms operating in the Irish services market.
Ireland once again came top of the European league table in terms of euro area FVC assets, with 23.0% market share. Ireland accounted for 27.6% of total euro area FVC vehicle numbers.
UK and US-based entities continued to sponsor a majority of Irish SPVs as measured by assets, accounting for 30.5% and 24.7% respectively at the end of Q4-2019.
